It has taken more than a week for me to get out again for birdwatching. Today I finally managed a trip to the "Großer Wörth". My main target species was the Little Bittern, which has become a regular breeder over the last years.
Noon is probably not the best time for observing this species, but I was quite astonished, since it did only take a few minutes on the observation tower to spot one! Unfortunately it remained a bit distant and so the pictures are not the best.
Not only the Little Bittern made this trip fantastic, but also three Black Kites, several Lapwings and a lot of singing passerines. So far the water level is very low and this would mean an incredable wader-season for the autumn, at least if it doesn´t rain too much. At the moment several Lapwings, Herons and Little Ringed Plovers are feeding there.
