On this weekend there was an official geese count in the districts of Bamberg and Haßfurt along the Main valley. Unfortunately many lakes were already frozen and the geese spread over the neighbouring fields. Nevertheless, we got a total of about 1800 geese, which is the highest number so far. Apart from that there were some futher good water birds among the latter, namely a Whooper Swan, a Greater Scaup and the Great Black-backed Gull, which was yet present on the Porznersee.
Near the small town "Eltmann" in the district of Haßfurt I found furthermore this very tame Gadwall, which definitely was the photographic highlight.
