Access

By Car: Take the exit "Kitzingen" of the motorway A7. Keep then following the B8 in the direction of Kitzingen and further. After 11 km you reach a roundabout at Mainbernheim. Take the exit towards "Willanzheim".

Having arrived at the latter, pay attention to left-hand band, where you must turn at first right in the direction of Marktbreit and immediately afterwards again into the "Kapellenweg". Drive to the end of the road. Here you should find a car park in the vicinity of the sports field.

By Public Transport: Willanzheim is best approached by the bus line 8107 which connects Kitzingen and Scheinfeld. The next train station is situated in Iphofen.

Ortolan Bunting
Ortolan Bunting

Walk westwards from the car park. The first interesting spot is reached at (1), the highly-structured area with fruit trees and tiny parcels of different field fruits holds annually singing Ortolan Buntings. Pay further attention to Tree Pipit, Red-backed Shrike and Corn Bunting in this area. After 1,2 km the sign posted circuit walk bends to the south and enters the "Großes Mühlholz" where many typical species of deciduous forests breed.

When you have arrived at the junction at (2) you can consider to leave the marked circuit walk and to continue walking straight on to (3). So you have once again the possibility for observing Ortolan Buntings. The "Dorfkulturweg" in this section is marked as a broken line on the map. From (3) onward the path is identical and leads directly back to the village. Turn left immediately before reaching the latter for getting to the car park.
